Right now, you're probably wondering where the hell you can spend the last night of the year among your people - i.e. friendly, dressed-up glamourpusses who wanna have a wild, drunken time - and away from lairy, aggressive, taste-free randoms. So, we've saved you the trouble and come up with the solution: we're gonna throw a STAY BEAUTIFUL NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY! *WHERE IS IT?* It isn't gonna be held at the Purple Turtle (it's someone else's turn to do that this year), but just up the road at the BULLET BAR in Kentish Town (147 Kentish Town Road to be precise, on the corner with Castle St). It's a smaller, more intimate venue than the Turtle (approx 230 capacity), stylishly decorated, with a decent sound system, and drinks at cheap, pubby prices (£3 a pint, £3.20 bottled lagers, cocktails from £5.90).* If you wanna have a look, here's the website: http://www.bulletbar.co.uk (see also http://www.myspace.com/bulletbar) *The only downside is that there are NO CLOAKROOM FACILITIES, but by telling you that in advance, hopefully we can minimise any inconvenience on the night. (And, in all the time Bullet has been open, they've never had an incident with a stolen coat or bag...) *WHAT CAN WE EXPECT?* Rest assured that we'll be bringing you the very best in sleazy glam, hi-voltage electro, glitter rock, fucked-up disco, 77 punk, new wave, alternative anthems and pop trash... just as usual. To save you the hassle of finding a pub where you won't be harassed by losers, we're opening an hour early (at 8.00pm), so you can come straight to us, and make an evening of it. There'll be a FREE GLASS OF BUBBLY for the first 100 arrivals: all the more reason to get there early. For the first hour or so, while you're getting your drinks, settling in and chatting to friends, we'll play low-key, downtempo tunes by your favourite artists. Then, when the time is right, we'll crank up the speed and the noise, and get the party started as only Stay Beautiful knows how. At 10.30pm, we'll have a short, sharp live set from MY PASSION ( http://www.mypassion.co.uk / http://www.myspace.com/mypassionmusic) to jolt the night into action, we'll have rockin' party tunes from special guest DJ BILLY REEVES (Uncle Bob's/Guilty Pleasures), as well as all-killer floorfillers from our regular DJs SIMON PRICE and TONY MAGGS, including, of course, the traditional big midnight countdown, and on into the wee small hours... *HOW CAN I GET TICKETS?* Tickets are £8 IN ADVANCE. You can book over the phone from Bullet (020 7485 6040, credit cards accepted), or drop into Bullet in person (opens 6pm daily) and buy one there while stocks last. If any tickets remain, admission on the night will be £10. It's gonna be big big fun. *AAAHHH, WHAM BAM THANK YOU MA'AM!* As aficionados of messy vodka-guzzling will be aware, Stay Beautiful has a somewhat notorious tradition called the WATERING CAN SONG... and this month's Watering Can Song is "SUFFRAGETTE CITY" by DAVID BOWIE.
