SO, I love Mal. I love writing him, but I'm online apparently at different times from a lot of people on the MUSH. So I don't get to write much with him. Fog Grove has really picked up lately, which is rad. I love the characters people have put into the Holt, it's great to see them all again! :) AND of course I get to write lots of schmoopy love stuff, which is radtastic. I've been working on a crochet blanket for Lindsay's new munchkin who's due this month, in about a week, I think! So exciting! I went out tonight with Shanon and we were watching "Mr. Holland's Opus" because there are two people from our school in it who she didn't know were in it. Joe, the first boy who ever kissed me (whose girlfriend at the time is also in it, she's the blonde flute player in the first band he teaches), and also my friend Tony. I forgot how prominently Tony is featured in the scene he's in, it was funny to watch it all again. I totally get creeped out by the girl in it in the 80's who starts hitting on Mr. Holland, though. I have problems watching "Never Been Kissed" for the same reason. Methinks I have issues. I guess I always saw my teachers as parental figures until college, when I got a crush on one who ended up beating up a student because the student told the girl (also a student) who the professor was sleeping with about another student he (the professor) was ALSO sleeping with. The professor loved punk music, though, and was very passionate about literature, so he was appealing to me for a lot of reasons. Actually, the fact that he could get worked up about literature was enough. The fact that he did it wearing a Sex Pistols T-shirt was icing. I have received orders from a friend of mine to go forth and meet new people, so I have to join a book club outside of the one we were planning for work which may or may not actually happen. So I went on Powells and looked at their calendar. They have a Sci-Fi one, a Mystery one, and a Classics one. They meet out in Beaverton, so it's not somewhere I usually go, but the Mystery one this month is reading a Raymond Chandler novel, and the Classics one is reading a novel from China that I can't remember the name of. So I got the books for them and I am hoping to get a little more social. Even if it's just a couple of meetings that I go to, it should be fun. I would go to the Sci-Fi one, but it meets in 4 days and I don't have the book they're reading. Kinda short notice, huh? Maybe next month. I still need to read 1984 for the work book club, just in case we do have it. I have started it but I didn't get very far because all I really want to do lately is crochet. I have finished two scarves recently, one for me and one for a gift. I've also bought enough yarn to make about 645 more scarves. Oops. :)
