'I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five?' Kinda like asking yourself the guy sitting opposite me at our gaming table...will he roll a 6...or a 1? But it's not just dice is it? Or is it? Why do we use dice & cards, chit draws etc etc in our play? We sure don't roll'em in life before we do something important in our lives...Unless u have read this book and follow it everyday: (The Dice Man....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dice_Man) Say...next time, before you drive down that highway or anywhere roll that die/draw a card maybe...OK...IF u roll a 3 you deliberately run out of gas...Or roll a 1 stand by your car down the road until a blonde stops & picks u up...or roll a 6 get yourself arrested somehow...well u make up your own list...buy an icecream... The Dice Man (Luke Rhinehart ) cometh! I wonder if he was a gamer? (George Cockcroft ) Ok how lucky do u think you are when playing these listed games below or your own favourites? The Dice Man helping you win? Fate? The wild cards? Events that just happen to turn up during play? Take Up Front for example...NON DICE...how many times have I impatiently waited for a + terrain card...then tossed fate to the winds....cards in this case...crossed Open Terrain with a squad...thinking I'll get a Woods card next draw...before that german MG gets a Fire card...and then I get mown down...Ahh maybe. Better gameplay without dice> A combo of cards & dice? Tactics? Organised forces? Planning? Strategy? What about B17...everyone who doesn't like it says there is nothing to do...just sitting there waiting to get home in one piece... How much do these factors have to do with winning or losing a game? Some more than others-depends on the game. That chit u just drew from the cup sure woulda helped if it had of been yours! (Platoon) Oh yeah...fog of war in games...mixed with a little luck...some fate...and a hand full of great cards...Up Front...man I love the Japanese when they charge my Marines! Scary!
