1. If you have an iPod and/or iTunes, do you use playlists? 2. If not, how do you normally listen to your music? (shuffle? library? genre? artist? other?) 3. Do you ever use the On-The-Go playlist? Bonus question: if you use playlists, how/what are they named? Someone recently saw my iPod and noted with surprise that I have a lot of playlists. I looked at his and was surprised that he had next to none (3). I promptly liberated a few of my co-werker's iPods to find out what their listening habits were. It was rather telling (especially as far as what some of these people are actually listen to during the day)! Anyway, while some of them do have playlists, no one seemed to be as overboard about it as me. 99% of the of time I am listening to my iPod, it's a playlist. I enjoy making them; I see them as the new mix tape. I have a bunch of mix-tape-like playlists with 20~ songs each. I like to name them abstractly. I'm currently listening to a playlist called December Brings the Frost (snow mix). And then I have other, much bigger playlists that are mood/genre/other based. Some examples: - genre (such as eurobeat, alternative, pop, punk, jazz, a capella, etc., blah blah.) - types (cover songs, classical pieces remixed into dance songs, an entire playlist dedicated to versions of pachelbel's kanon, christmas music, et al) - rated (5 stars, top 150 played, etc.) - mood (uptempo werk, moody design, manically high bpm...) - songs we normally sing at karaoke - stuf I've purchased - stuf that Dan has recommended - stuf I've loaded recently - stuf that I'm particularly fond of that I've loaded in the last 6 months (seriously) I think this might all come down to the fact that I'm moody, I really like music, and I have specific music needs for all of my moods. Plus, as I've previously discussed in great detail, I am utterly addicted to lists in general. Am I the only one with a playlist-obsession? I can't be... can I?
