To me, drawings of make-believe Thirties aircraft are most satisfying if they incorporate the aerodynamic shapes of the period. This design ethic (if that's the right phrase) dictates the Victorian appearance of the devices in the "Steam punk" genre, and the Walt Disney version of Nemo's submarine Nautilus.
