Cadac announces the latest release of Organice™ 2006, their Sharepoint based document management solution, also referred to as “the user friendly SharePoint experience”.
In addition to its often praised user friendly navigation, easy management, powerful search and convenient viewing of SharePoint content, new capabilities of Organice 2006 include:
Further optimization of its Microsoft Office integration:
o Organice now supports automatic mapping of Outlook message properties to SharePoint properties to optimize the process of saving emails to (project) sites.
o Integration of the Organice toolbars into the standard Office toolbars further streamlines the user experience
Expanded AutoCAD support:
o According to the Organice strategy to always stay current with Microsoft and AutoDesk technology, Organice now supports AutoCAD 2007 and RealDWG 2007.
o With the Organice local workspace (see below), AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT files can now be launched directly from their SharePoint repository and AutoCad drawings can now be moved and copied between document libraries, sites and servers without loosing their XREF integrity.
o The many AutoCAD LT users, are now able to manage and share their drawings through a SharePoint repository.
o A new refresh function enables engineers to be alerted about changes their colleagues made to external reference files (XREF) connected to their own work. This makes team-collaboration more efficient.
Expanded use of local workspaces:
o Now with Organice also “non-URL-aware” applications (like Adobe Professional, Adobe PhotoShop, etc.) can be launched directly from SharePoint and saved back while properly enforcing the meta-data.
o The local Workspace also allows the user to choose between saving his work locally (optimal performance) or to save and/or check-in the document to a Sharepoint server to share it with other team-members.
