The NHS Cervical Screening Programme guidelines on colposcopy offers the following recommendations concerning repeat excisions in patients with cervical epithelial neoplasia: "8. 6 Repeat excision CIN extending to the margins at excision results in a higher incidence of recurrence but does not justify routine repeat excision as long as: • there is no evidence of glandular abnormality • there is no evidence of invasive disease • the woman is under 50 years of age.
