JOB POSTING Distribution Coordinator ORGANIZATION The Ontario Association of Food Banks (OAFB) is a network of over 100 community food banks across the province from Windsor to Ottawa and Niagara Falls to Thunder Bay. Our organization’s mission is to provide food, funding, and solutions in order to work towards a hunger-free Ontario. PURPOSE OF POSITION The Distribution Coordinator is responsible for coordinating new food distribution activities including stewardship of food donors, maintenance and improvement of logistical and information management systems, and coordination of food drive activities. RESPONSIBILITIES The Distribution Coordinator is responsible for the following organizational activities and deliverables: • coordinating donor information by researching and inputting current and prospective food donor information; • reaching out to local producers and processors in target regions across the province through solicitation materials and recognition efforts via phone, email and traditional correspondence; • coordinating food distribution activities including responding to food bank and food donor inquiries regarding food donations and managing in-bound donations and outbound shipments to food banks; • assisting with the piloting, training, and continuous improvement of our new FoodNet information management system; • coordinating new national and provincial food drive activities in Ontario by connecting with local grocery stores, local food banks, and volunteer organizations participating in the campaign; and • evaluating the success of the campaign by tracking campaign totals and connecting with food banks for feedback once campaign is complete. QUALIFICATIONS • project coordination skills; • research skills; • relationship management skills; • basic computer and data entry skills (MS Office); • logistics management skills; • teamwork; and • ability to multitask. CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY This position is open to an individual that is currently collecting Employment Insurance (EI), and individuals who have had an E.I. claim in the past three years or received maternity or parental benefits in the past five years. For reference, this is termed an Employment Insurance Reach Back status by the Government of Ontario. SALARY & TERM This is a one-year contract position with the opportunity for a full-time permanent position beyond the contract period with the agreement of the candidate and OAFB.
