Bustling Ski Resort and village located 40 min. north of Kamloops is looking for a hands on, home cooking Chef for their new 90 seat restaurant opening in late November. Under the direction of the Hotel Operations Manager, you will supervise activities of all kitchen staff, provide planning, direction, leadership and Hands On food preparation of comfort food in the this family restaurant (3 meals a day, some buffets, roasts, pasta, burgers classic sandwiches, salads and fresh soups). Other duties include menu development and recipe system controls for consistent superior quality and service. Also ensure and maintain a clean, safe and hazard free operation of all kitchen equipment and working areas. We need a take charge kind of Chef who will work the majority of busy times including weekends, holidays and evenings and demonstrate to the team how it is done! You will need to develop a process with suppliers and staff to ensure that food and liquor supplies are always sufficient - yet never excessive and wasteful. Ideally, you have a strong culinary background with a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar establishment as a Sous Chef while working towards a Red Seal Certification. Attention to detail and cleanliness with the ability to uphold a motivated and organized work environment will ensure success in this role. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to coach and develop staff without being too demanding- no egos please.
