The people who are responsible for the current measles outbreak. http://leftbrainrightbrain.co.uk/?p=1223 Sullivan, thanks for pointing out that the erosion of popular confidence in vaccines and in those who develop and administer them has been deliberately cultivated by specific organizations and individuals—most notably those promoting the interests of vaccine-injury plaintiffs. Here’s John Gilmore talking back in 2005: “Thanks to David (Kirby)’s incredibly hard work the book has done phenomenally well. Two years ago this was the province of the loonie fringe. EOH has put us in the mainstream. Our main job is to destroy the credibility of the vaccine industry and that’s just what EOH has done.” http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2007/11/america_the_overvaccinated.php It's a bit of a stretch to conclude from this study that Americans are "overvaccinated." For one thing, it's a pretty small study, with only 45 subjects. The mean age of the subjects was 52 on enrollment, and many of them had had measles, mumps, or rubella during childhood, leaving only two to five patients as the source of data for some vaccines. Indeed, the authors themselves point out that further studies will be needed before statistically meaningful comparisons can be made. They also pointed out that the subjects examined were all healthy, other than a few cases of hypertension and asthma, neither of which would be likely to affect long lasting antibody responses to vaccination. What we can conclude from this study is that immunity from many common vaccines may last longer than we had previously thought, and that booster vaccines for some diseases may not be required in some populations. http://autism-news-beat.com/?p=49 Dr. Amy Tuteur, MD, says “vaccines rejectionism” is about how parents see themselves, and that it has little to do with children or vaccines. She recently shared her devastating critique of organized opposition to vaccines in the comments on a New York Times site, which I am publishing with Dr. Tuteur’s permission. The fact that vaccine rejectionism is based on false premises is sidestepped by ignoring the scientific data and focusing instead on whether parents agree with health professionals. Agreement with doctors is constructed as a negative and refusal to trust is constructed as a positive cultural attribute: … Non-vaccinators or those who question aspects of vaccination policy are ‘free thinkers’ who have escaped from the disempowerment that is seen to characterise vaccination… … (vaccine rejectionists) construct trust in others as passive and the easy option. Rather than trust in experts, the alternative scenario is of a parent who becomes the expert themselves, through a difficult process of personal education and empowerment…” http://members.tripod.com/vaccinesupport-ivil/antivaxsites.html Anti-vaccination organizations and their board members, autism-based: Generation Rescue (GR) Board of directors: Jenny McCarthy, Deirdre Imus, Katie Wright, J.B. Dr. Blaylock will spend a few minutes going over the science of how vaccine ingredients and vaccine over load lead to obsessive compulsive disorders, tics, convulsions, seizures, ADD, ADHD, autism, and other neurological development/consequences. Then the lines will be opened for questions and answers.   Dr. Jeff Bradstreet,  International Child Development Resource Center in Palm Bay, Fla. (I will discuss, MMR is unquestionably associated with autism. The difference occurs in the meaning of first causes (primary causality) and co-occurrence which by definition would represent an association. The major philosophy of VIA, however, is to ensure that Freedom of Choice is not taken away from each parent. The decision to vaccinate is one that should and must be made by the parent alone. To this end VIA: What do they have to say about the measles outbreak in the UK and the US? Steven Novella, M.D., is pretty blunt: he blames the anti-vaccination activists, represented by Jenny McCarthy: The idiocy of antivaccinationists partly rests upon the modern luxury of never having had to live through the horrible epidemics of the past. I wonder how much the current generation will have to suffer through before they get it. And I will say it again - if Jenny McCarthy is going to put her own “mommy instinct” before the consensus of scientific opinion, and exploit her dubious celebrity to champion anti-science, then she is going to have to take responsibility for her actions. The way I figure it, so far there are at least 68 measles cases on her tally sheet, and the number is growing. Emily on Jennifer Margulis, a mother and writer who only "selectively vaccinates", as quoted in a story by JoNel Aleccia, published at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26291109/ It's a pity that (Margulis is)  proud of being a "public health official's nightmare." Why is she proud of that? It means that someday, she may be the worst nightmare of many other parents who live in her community. It may mean that her own decisions may someday haunt her in her own worst nightmares. Right now, it's just a head-shaking moment that she thinks it doesn't "make sense" that her decisions might endanger others. Down the road, that head-shaking moment could turn into a tragedy. http://en.allexperts.com/e/j/j/j._b._handley.htm Handley, a Stanford University graduate  is the managing partner and founder of Swander Pace Capital, a leveraged buyout fund. In May, 2005, he, his wife Lisa, and over 150 parents launched Generation Rescue, a non-profit, California based, international support group dedicated to treating autism and other neurological disorders the group contends result from heavy metal poisoning, particularly thimerosal containing vaccines. http://www.spcap.com/investment-team/index.php?category=Principals&team-member=J.B.+Handley Mr. Handley serves as Chairman of GeniSoy Food Company, Inc.; Fresh Food Concepts, Inc.; Marketfare Foods, Inc.; International Fiber Corporation; and ReNew Life Formulas, Inc., and is a Director of Bravo Sports and Gilchrist & Soames, Inc.
