The Cadac Group, a leading Microsoft Gold Certified Partner developing Microsoft SharePoint based engineering document management solutions, announces the release of Organice 2007 R3. This new Organice release provides new features and enhancements in Organice Explorer and Organice Transmit.Organice Explorer
Organice Explorer, the Windows desktop client that enhances working with Microsoft SharePoint, now fully supports Microsoft Windows Vista Business (32 and 64-bits) and AutoCAD 2009 (32 and 64-bits) that was release by Autodesk in March 2008. Furthermore it supports Autodesk’s RealDWG 2009 to manage DWG files with SharePoint. Autodesk’s RealDWG delivers the highest reliability in AutoCAD integration and is fully compatible with Autodesk’s best-in-class products.
To support engineering organizations in reviewing drawings and other design documents, Organice 2007 R3 supports redlining. Redlining functionality is offered through the internal viewer, and a user can choose from a variety of redlining tools to highlight problems and suggest changes or improvements directly on drawings and documents. Other users can view the redlining information and the author can make changes to the file in the original application, in accordance with the redlining information. Redlining improves the process of document reviewing and revising.
Customers using Organice on top of MOSS 2007 Enterprise Edition can now make use of BDC fields. Microsoft BDC technology (Business Data Catalog) can be used to retrieve data from an external source. BDC fields can for instance be used in Organice to get contact information from contact lists in business information systems. Using BDC fields in Organice Explorer greatly enhances its usability.
Organice uses intelligent lookup lists to add certain metadata values to documents. It can happen that these lists sometime miss a certain value, and a SharePoint Administrator had to add the missing value before a user could continue. Organice 2007 R3 now provides users the possibility to enter missing values on the fly. When a value is missing, users can edit the lookup list and add the value they need, saving them a lot of time.
Organice Transmit
With Organice Transmit document controllers can distribute multiple documents that are stored and managed in SharePoint to multiple recipients at once. In the new release, Organice Transmit automatically notifies document controllers to retransmit documents that have been updated. When documents are updated, Organice Transmit automatically creates a SharePoint task to retransmit the updated documents to the involved recipients. This task is send to the document controller through an e-mail notification. In the task a due date can be set, so that the involved recipients are informed in time. This automatic notification ensures that all recipients are working with up-to-date information.
When distributing documents through e-mail, SharePoint contacts can now also be added to the cc-list. Furthermore Organice Transmit provides the possibility to export the distribution matrix and distribute it with the transmittal. Recipients can open the exported matrix for instance in Microsoft Excel to view the full matrix, knowing exactly who received what.
In many projects it is known up front which documents need to be created and by whom. To support this process, Organice Transmit 2007 R3 provides the possibility to create upfront SharePoint document entries for documents that need to be created. In addition, a transmittal can be send to those who need to create these documents with a request to deliver these documents. This request can include a due date when the documents need to be ready. Document provisioning helps to get a better overview of the status of all the documents that need to be created.
Organice already supported 7 languages (Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian and Spanish) and now also supports Danish. Organice 2007 R3 will be available to customers from April 2008.
